Who should pay Bargaining Council Levy?

Every municipal employee must pay Bargaining Council Levies to the South African Local Government Bargaining Council on a monthly basis.


How much must be paid per employee?

Every employee must pay R3,20 per month. The employer (the Municipality) must pay a corresponding R3,20 levy for every municipal employee. A total contribution of R6,40 is paid to the Bargaining Council by the Municipality.

 



Who should pay Agency Shop Fees?

All municipal employees who do not belong to the two leading Trade Unions namely: IMATU or SAMWU (non-union members) must pay an Agency Shop Fee. These monies are administered by the South African Local Government Bargaining Council and must be paid on a monthly basis.


How much must be paid per non-union members?

The Agency Shop Fee are 1 %, up to a maximum of R50,00 of the employees’ monthly gross income. In addition, all employees who are affected by this Agency Shop Fee must also pay the R3,20 Bargaining Council Levy.
